Description

Donkey Training102 Video On Demand is designed for students who have completed Donkey 101.

The Donkey 102 includes 16 videos with over three hours of training content by trainer Melody Johnson, an e-book, and an 11-page PDF outlining and highlighting core training points.

Donkey 102 teaches the owner or caretaker how to understand donkey personality, herd mentality, handling rescued, traumatized, and spoiled donkeys, and how to train your donkey to pick up the front and back hooves when you say foot. Learn how to stay on Donkey Time ®, which means having a plan and never forcing or stressing the donkey.  Emphasizes that keeping the lesson short and ending on a good note will allow the donkey to quickly learn and show you, the owner, what the donkey has learned the next day.

Prepare for the farrier; donkeys often exhibit nervous behaviors such as kicking, using their heads to push people, rearing, biting, bolting or becoming introverted, refusing to move their feet, or lying on the ground.  The program teaches using a stick and string to touch and desensitize the donkey. The stick and string are used to extend your arm and hand, keeping your head out of the kick zone. Not a whip.

Here are the sections covered in the program:

1. Introduction

2. Making a Commitment to Your Donkey

3. Knowing the Signs of Stress and Fear in Your Donkey

4. Donkey Personality: Introvert or Extrovert?

5. Understanding Herd Mentality

6. The Rescued or Traumatized Donkey

7. Endorphins Versus Pain

8. Teaching Your Donkey to Tie and Stand

9. Preparing Your Donkey for the Farrier/Veterinarian

10. Blanketing Your Donkey

11. The New DWF Training Tool Stick and String

12. When Your Donkey Does Not Respect You as a Leader

13. Picking Up Your Donkey’s Front Feet

14. Picking Up Your Donkey’s Back Feet

15. Having Fun with Games and Obstacles

16. Conclusion: Your Donkey is Waiting For You!

Donkey Training 102 has been so helpful. I have only had my mammoth donkey for a about 3 1/2 months and is my first one to train. Donkey Training 102 has lots of practical and good information that has helped Pearl and I learn together. Thank you!

I purchased this video to help me in addition to Donkey 101. I adopted two donkeys and a pony from a rescue that had started them on haltering and leading. I understood I would have to earn their trust and that they would backslide a bit in their training. This video helped me go beyond what was presented in the first video and gave me great insight into how to connect with the donkeys and pony and continue their training. I highly recommend it.
